Urban Aakhada opened its doors in Dombivli by Shyam & Dipti Sreekumar. Akhara or Akhada (Sanskrit and Hindi: अखाड़ा, shortened to khara Hindi: खाड़ा) is an Indian word for a place of practice with facilities for boarding, lodging and training, both in the context of Indian martial artists or a sampradaya monastery for religious renunciations in Guru–shishya tradition.

This martial arts school is affiliated to the World Sabaki Federation, an organisation headquartered in South Africa under the leadership of Karate Kaicho Hoosain Narker, headmaster of Ashihara Karate International and founder of the WSF.
